Because of the terrible wind when we arrived and then the storm we didn't look around he grounds so did that before we left. To our surprise there was a lake view and an outdoor swimming pool brrrr. We left Cobble Beach and headed for Meaford and Thornbury both of which had been recommended by the hotel staff. They are pretty places on Nottasawaga Bay with harbours. We visited a candle factory where Carol bought some really lovely bargains for gifts. Unfortunately it's not possible for me to add to my baggage weight but I decided I would buy a Christmas tree decoration in each of my destinations. I can use them in NZ when I decorate the tree with Nicholas (how exciting) and then they will be a precious reminder each year of this incredible trip.
We enjoyed the best coffee and cake so far in Canada at McGinty's in Meaford - definitely recommend it. It was a leisurely drive through Beaver Valley, sadly didn't see any beavers, but did see pheasants and lots of black squirrels.
Then it was on to Waterloo a city of 133,000 (the population of the wider area is well over half a million) and booked into the Delta Hotel. To be honest it's more modern and much more to my taste than the opulence of Cobble Beach.
We walked down to an Irish Bar for dinner, we are getting ready for our time with Pat and Gordon this weekend - they are from N Ireland and such a fun couple. He is a Pastor of a large church in Chatham.
We visited the Waterloo and Kitchener area and saw the fantastic Amish market.
