15th Oct day 2 all about Niagara

Carol asked me "are the Niagara Falls one of the 7 Wonders of the World?" The answer of course is no, all of those are man-made rather than by the Grand Designer. The Temple of Diana at Ephesus, the Lighthouse at Alexandria, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon etc are all long gone, only the Pyramids remain. It would be insulting to the designers to suggest that the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, or Concorde or even the iPhone were not the result of a lot of hard work and creativity. So why do I and so many others people either chose to ignore or forget that we are surrounded by some incredible design accomplishments. Certainly seeing the Niagara Falls which are truly awesome, has reminded me to give credit where it's due to God. 

Did you know that 20% of the worlds fresh water goes over these Falls, that's staggering but it explains the power in this gorge.

We decided to do the walk behind the Falls first it was incredible, not only the might of the water but also that men and women had managed to provide a tunnel with viewing platforms.

After a good soaking we went for our first coffee and cake at Tim Hortons, an institution in Canada to warm us up. Then it was onto the Maid in the Mist, this was an incredible experience being so close to the base of the Falls. Our hosts had said "you don't need to get very wet", clearly that couldn't be true as it was like having buckets of water thrown at you. But the whole thing was exhilarating and the memory will last a lifetime.

We then walked up to the next part of the Niagara experience which was the Wild Water Walk. It was a long....long way but well worthwhile. The waves were over 15' high and as we left the guide said he would have to close the boardwalk as it was becoming too dangerous, so we had timed it perfectly.

We got a taxi back to our car at the other end of the Falls. This had been a day packed with the power of nature and we had both loved it.
