18th Oct day 5 first snow

As is mine and Carol's normal practice we went to church on Sun morning in Owen Sound. The Inn on the Bay had a comprehensive list of local churches so after a leisurely breakfast and checking out which looked most like 'us' online, we headed off. I was reassuring Carol that it's sooooo easy in Canada and the States to find your way because of the grid system of streets that run in numerical order, how wrong could I have been. We drove around for 40 mins looking for the Alliance Church on 7th Ave East. Now had we been in Toronto or New York that would have been fine but we were in a place of just 22,000 residents. What foxed us was we discovered there were 2 parts to 7th Ave East nowhere near each other, so no wonder we went around in circles and were half an hour late! In reality we were less than 10 mins from our hotel and the church. 

We were also a bit hampered by the areas first snowfall as we drove. It always staggers me that every snowflake is unique and different, that to me further suggests an incredibly creative Designer. As a new Christian I tried designing snowflakes cutting them out of paper, I managed to get about 20 that looked different but then they all had a sameness about them!

But tenacity matters and both of us wanted to worship our Father, and to hear what was His message for us for that day. Sadly we had missed the worship but there was a baby dedication and the Minister spoke about the importance of our families and praying for them using the Lord's Prayer as a basis to help us concentrate. It was so helpful for me, thank You Lord.

When we came out it was white over so we decided to head back to our hotel as the area is steep and we didn't want to be slip sliding everywhere. So we had a relax and then a delicious hot but light lunch in the restaurant.

When the snow had melted late afternoon we went to the fabulous Harrison Park where we saw huge salmon leaping upstream, we stood right next to them. Unfortunately my iPad crashed with videoing them so I had to delete them. We walked for ages to try and get to the Inglis Falls further up the park but with light starting to fade and ice on the ground we had to abandon the trek, this is salmon river.

 

When we got back back to the hotel we were cold so warmed up in the spa pools, this picture was taken the following morning we left. It was bliss, right up our street!
