17th Oct day 4 upward and onward Owen Sound

It was sad to leave Val & Bob as we had enjoyed such quality time with them, but the next location beckoned - Owen Sound. It's about 3 hours drive north of Niagara, well it should be if you haven't got a duff navigotor I.e. me. Val had kindly printed off excellent directions with everything we needed. We were to leave the Queen Elizabeth Way at junc 74 before taking the road north. How I missed it I don't know but we had to come off a couple of junctions later when it was obvious we were going west not north. Now when we first landed I was thankful that Canada doesn't have roundabouts, one less thing to contend with when you are driving, but let me tell you the lack of them, when all you want to do is go on the opposite carriageway, is huge. We came off at Hamilton and circum-navigated it then back on the carriageway believing we were going north but oh oh not so. We did that 3 times before finally ending up going north again at junc 60. Thankfully Carol is a very calm, patient friend and after that we made our way uneventfully to Owen Sound, stopping only at Subway for some lunch. 

The hotel is right on the Sound so we had a lovely autumnal work before dinner.

Despite there being 3 weddings in the hotel their service was good and we had a scrumptious dinner in the restaurant of chicken, salad and sweet potato fries before going back to our room to watch Last chance Harvey, courtesy of Carol's friend Andy on his iPad. This was the view at dinner.
